Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a salted hash — we never store plaintext passwords). We do not require your real name, phone number, or physical address to use SpamAxe.

Backlink Data You Upload

When you upload a CSV file from Google Search Console, we process the domain and URL data contained in that file. This data is used to run our detection engine and generate reports. Your uploaded backlink data is associated with your account and is not shared with other users in identifiable form.

Shared Threat Intelligence

When you confirm a domain classification (spam, suspicious, or clean), that classification contributes to our shared threat intelligence database. This database contains domain-level data only — it does not include any information about which user submitted the classification, which site was targeted, or any details from your uploaded CSV beyond the domain name itself.

Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address. We store subscription data in a flat file on our server (timestamp and email). We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.

Server Logs

Our servers automatically log standard request data including IP addresses, browser user agents, referring URLs, and timestamps. These logs are used for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and debugging. Log data is retained for a reasonable period and then purged.

Cookies

SpamAxe uses essential cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not use Google Analytics or any Google tracking services on spamaxe.com.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and operate the SpamAxe service, including backlink analysis, spam classification, and report generation. Authenticate your account and maintain session security. Improve our detection engine accuracy through aggregated, anonymized threat intelligence. Send you service-related communications (account verification, security alerts, feature updates if subscribed). Monitor for abuse of our platform. Comply with legal obligations.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Period.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Threat Intelligence: Domain-level spam classifications are shared across the platform to benefit all users. This data is fully anonymized — no user identifiers, target site information, or uploaded file contents are included.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Service Providers: We use third-party infrastructure providers (hosting, DNS) to operate SpamAxe. These providers may process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information.

Abuse Reports You Generate

SpamAxe generates structured abuse reports that you download and submit yourself. We do not submit abuse reports on your behalf. The content of those reports — including IP addresses, domain names, and timestamps — is data you choose to send to hosting providers and registrars. Once you submit a report to a third party, that data is subject to their privacy policies, not ours.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), salted password hashing, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Anonymized threat intelligence data (domain classifications) is retained indefinitely as it contains no personally identifiable information. Email subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. You may delete your account, which will remove your personal data and uploaded backlink files from our systems.

Children's Privacy

SpamAxe is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account or by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of SpamAxe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
